![]() There will also be an update soon to allow you to control other audio apps on your phone with Car Thing and not just the Spotify app. I think the idea is to auto adjust it so that you don't have to mess with settings while driving which is safer. I find Car Thing's auto brightness to work well. Some car screens won't allow you to change the brightness and instead link it to whether you have your headlights on or not. There will be a low brightness Night Mode soon as well. The screen auto adjusts its brightness to how bright or dark it is in your car. I'm not sure if you can view the queue in CarPlay but Car Thing will soon have an update where you can view the queue and add to it using icons and Hey Spotify voice commands. Makes it easier to control things while driving. There is also a "Hey Spotify" voice assistant that has more features than the basic "Hey Siri" commands you can do. It's also more Spotify like than using the CarPlay UI.Ĭar Thing has 4 preset buttons on the top that you can save your favorite things to play to and quickly access them. I think the main advantages are the preset buttons and the Hey Spotify voice assistant. Also, if you want maps and music at the same time then good luck with that. I don't want my phone always unlocked and draining battery or getting OLED screen burn in. ![]() Even though I also have my phone mounted and charged, it locks and then you have to unlock it. The main comments I see against this device are "just use your phone" but the problem is that your phone isn't always on and easy to use while driving. It makes it so you don't have to touch your phone while driving and instead can mount and use the Car Thing which has an always on screen and easy to use buttons. ![]() It might still be useful even if you have that new stuff though. Car Thing is mainly made for older cars that don't have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. ![]()
